Back in Singapore...

Gloria is back in Singapore...
At 9am sharp on the Monday morning, we board up the bus and headed to Wuhan Airport. That was my very last glance at Wuhan University of Science & Technology. I just simply miss everything that we have gone through for the past 42 days. I just can't believe time passes this quick.
After which, we took a domestic flight from Wuhan till GuangZhou airport.
& At GuangZhou airport, we had nearly 4 hours of break before we get on to the plane and head back to Singapore. This was also the very last time i went to Macdonald and had my Pork Burger, which Singapore will never have it. We walked around the skymall before we enter the gates.
Flight from GuangZhou to Singapore was much longer, and that was when many things went thru my mind. Tears roll down my cheeks as i ponder.
Usually at this time, i would either be asleep or having fun at one of the 21 guns hostel. But it will never happen again... Though this trip have come to an end, but our friendships would be forever. Thanks everyone for the wonderful memories you guys have left in my heart. You'll never be forgotten.
Loves....

Last post in Wuhan- Day 42

I would like to wish ChinKuang a Happy 18th birthday! We celebrated his birthday past 12 in the campus, however drizzle came. We then headed back and waited for the rain to become smaller before we could put the fireworks which we intially planned.
As early as 5am, the drizzle finally stopped. We headed out of domitory and put fire works! This is something that i will never ever get to do in Singapore. We only paid about 12 SGD for 24 fireworks! That's madness. Fun and laughter were everywhere, just that it is going to end in few hours time... :(
Some of us stayed awake and waited for the sun to rise. Many of us hope the sun does not rise, because when the sunrise, it means is 12 Oct 2009, the day we are heading back to Singapore. :(
It end tonight...
Shall start to pack my luggage now. I guess the next time you would see me blogging is in Singapore.... GLORIA LOVE WUHAN!
Quote of the day- “Courage is the discovery that you may not win, and trying when you know you can lose.” -Tom Krause
Reflection- We would have to accept the fact that 42 days have already past... :(

Day 41 in Wuhan

Today, we went to Grand Ocean for our last shopping. & we came back early to the hostel.
Once we reached hostel, the first thing we did was to buy all the food we love from the street hawker despite we were pretty bloated. We visited all the shops and i've distributed some soveniors (Singapore coins) to some of the vendors which i always patronize them. The hot plate, fruit stall and the little shops along the road. Eyes of the vendors were red and teary. Is just very hard to bid farewell. Sad moment...
After that i headed to Dong 3 to find Cherish, my very first friend in China, we had a great talked and she was very nice to give me a rose ring that she hand-made herself. Parting is always the saddiest part...
Quote of the day- “How much of human life is lost in waiting.”- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Reflection- I am going to miss my locals friends, vendors, foods and the affortable shopping ...

We're leaving in less then 12 hours :(

Day 40 in Wuhan

Today, Group E woke up as early as 7am to do our video. It is definitely worth to sacrifice my sleep for this video as the outcome turn out very well! Catch our video soon during the first week of school :D
After which, many of us headed to ShouYi Garden, the place where all the best food are. It is a must to visit there before we leave Wuhan. We ate the soup dumplings, seafood shells, porridge and ice blended. I just can't stop eating!
After lunch, we then headed to the shopping streets at that area and had our last shopping spree. It is quite a great place to shop, however the items were a little overpriced. After 3 hours or so, we then decided to head back to WUST as there was a farewell dinner in school.
We decided to take the mian bao bus as it is cheaper, but guess what! The driver actually sent us to the wrong campus. & the worst part was that the bus doesn't seems to have suspension. The journey was so jerky that i could not even take a nap!
More then a hour later, we finally reached the campus. We immediately rushed to drop our shopping goods and rushed to the restaurant as time were running out for us.
Dinner at the hotel right beside our hostel, and the food was not appetizing at all, and what made it worst was the bus ride i had previously. I'm feeling no good at all :( Praying that i do not fall sick at this time. About 1 more day before i leave Wuhan :(
Quote of the day- "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."-Wayne Gretzky
Reflection- China is just like Singapore, a food paradize. I am going to miss the food!

Day 39 in Wuhan

Today, we had our final presentation for BPE. This also means that it is going to be the last time we're going to be in the class, last time we are going to the foreign school, last day we are going to climb 135 steps, the last day we are going to turn left side once we step up of the dormitory... Out of sudden, i miss the place :(
This presentation was so much different as we would have to present in Flexim form. I felt that i was not fully prepared for this presentation :( But yea, no point crying over spilt milk, but at least i know at that time, i've tried my best...
I'm so going to miss school of foreign studies!
Quote of the day- "A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be." -Rosalynn Carter
Reflection- Everyone were elated that our module has come to an end, but at the same time, we felt a little sad to leave the place so soon. Everyone just had the mixed feeling. I will miss the place definitely...

Day 38 in Wuhan

Today was a special day for me. Usually the people whom i go out with are always the mde people. For today, i was invited by the LSCT Peeps and i decided to go out with them. :D
We headed to Hangkou, HanZhen jie, which took us at least 2 hours travelling. Firstly, we took a bus to ZhuoDaoQuan, after which we switch to Bus 587 which went pass the huge river which separates HangKou and ZhongNan.
When we reached HanZhen Jie, we were at the wholesale centre whereby it sells clothes for the older people! We then decided to ask around, and we found out that we were at the wrong part of the wholesale centre. It just gave us a shock.
After walking for long, we decided to head to JiangHan street and had our favourite TangBao (Soup Dumpling). We then spent rest of our day at there.
As a few of us were tired from the travelling, we decided to take a break and the girls had Manicure & Pedicure. Surprisingly the guys were patient and waited for us! I'm enjoying life here :D
Quote of the day- “Life is never easy for those who dream.”-Robert James Waller
Reflection- As we were walking at HanZhen Jie, there were many people surrounding at a few tables. As we were curious, we decided to peek. To my horror, they are actually gambling in the public! That's one thing that anyone wouldn't want to see it. It just potray a bad image of the country. Isn't it? Horrible...

Day 37 in Wuhan

The very last lap...
Here comes our last assignment, assignment 3, flexim.
Now is the time to get assignment 3 done and prepare for Friday's presentation.
Once Friday end, it is the mark of the beginning of our HOLIDAYS!!!
JIAYOU EVERYONE!

Day 36 in Wuhan

Is shopping time for us again :D
Today, ShunQing, Rebecca, YokeMay and i headed to Zhuo Dao Quan again, yes just 4 of us.
This time round, we managed to stop at the right bus station (HuChang) as we took a picture of the map. We spend the whole afternoon and evening at there and we tried almost all their street hawker food. The food variety is so much more compared to the ones near our school. Yummy!
I guess i am going to miss their food when i'm back in Singapore.
Quote of the day- “Truth is like the sun. You can shut it out for a time, but it ain't goin' away.” -Elvis Presley
Reflection- It seems like i'm getting used to the culture over here. I am no longer afraid of eating street hawker food, and i am able to hold my drinks and food with one hand, like how the China people walked as they eat. What a immersion!

Day 35 in Wuhan

Yesterday was an outing day for MDE.
We woke up as early as 8am and headed off to Wuhan Theme Park by our private bus that we've booked.
We reached the theme park at around 9.30am, and we started our rides. The first ride we had was Roller Coaster. The ride was pretty fun, just that the ride was only for 2 minutes. :(
Next we sat the turning coaster. The turning coaster was not as thrilling as expected, pretty disappointed, however it did not spoil our mood to try the other rides!
The last thrilling ride we had was the viking ship. The viking ship was great as compared to the turning coaster. We dared ourselves and sat at the ends of the ship. As we took the ride, we just had that "feel"...
Before we left the theme park, we tried the mirror maze. Heard many bangs as we walked. Haha To challenge myself, YokeMay and i decided to try to walk again alone. Had a bad headache after that, luckily i manage to find my way out. Haha
After which, we headed to HangKou. From the theme park, we walked for about 20 minutes to the MRT Station. We then took the MRT, and alighted at the next station. The train was not as bad as expected. :)
We then had free-and-easy session at Hangkou all the way till evening.
We took a ferry to HangKou famous food street to have our dinner. One food that i would recommend is the GARLIC OYSTER! It tastes great, however i only had a piece as i am afraid that my stomach may not able to take it. I don't want to spend the rest of the days in the toilet nor hospital...
We then headed back to the hostel, and everyone just fell asleep in the 2 hours bus ride.
Hostel sweet hostel...
Quote of the day-"Beyond a doubt truth bears the same relation to falsehood as light to darkness." -Leonardo da Vinci
Reflection- Wuhan theme park does not work like the way how Singapore Escape theme park works. In China, for every ride you take, you would have to buy the tickets. Unlike Singapore whereby we pay per entry. Is this a better way?

Day 34 in Wuhan

Stayed at the hostel throughout the day to finish up Assignment 2... The report is giving everyone headache!!!
GLORIA DO YOUR BEST!!!
& tomorrow is gonna be one great day as we'll be heading to Wuhan Theme Park & HangKou.
Everyone, HANG ON THERE!!! :D

Day 33 in Wuhan

Is finally our break time!!! Therefore we decided to explore some places which was recommend by my local friend, and the place is known as Zhuo Dao Quan.
Despite the place is called Zhuo Dao Quan, we will have to alight at HuChang bus station, which we've missed it. We then walked for about 15 minutes before we arrived to that place.
There's a Mickey Mouse street over there, and also small little shops at the other side of the road. The place just resemble Singapore Bugis street, is just that it was much more dirty and cramp. haha
Spend our afternoon there till night. & we wanted to catch a bus back. But guess what's funny, we waited for the bus at around 9.05 at the bus stop. After waiting for awhile we then realised that the last service for the public transport was at 9pm. So silly of us! We cabbed back, which took us nearly 20 mins to flag one. What a tiring day!
Quote of the day- "Every strike brings me closer to the next home run." -Babe Ruth
Reflection- Is the first time we took bus 907. Once we board up the bus, we immediately look for the bus conductor to pay for our ticket, but i do not see anyone. For this bus, they uses machine's to collect money. They also have the system like how ez-link cards work in Singapore.

Day 32 in Wuhan

Today was a makeover day for many of us.
Once we were ready to leave the domitory, we headed to Grand Ocean (GuangGu).
Grand Ocean has been a great place for us as that's the nearest shopping centre to WUST.
We shopped, ate and played. & Finally it is the time to rest.
Many of us headed to "YesIDo" Hair Saloon.
The makeover begins...
Some cut, some dye and some rebond. We spend hours in the saloon before we rushed back to the Hostel. Curious about the outcome? Look at the pictures below...
A brand new look for us :D
Quote of the day- “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” -Lao Tzu
Reflection- After visiting the saloon, i realised that the technology that they have (for hair saloon equipment) in China is pretty advanced. Also, one point whereby they work in a different way compared to Singapore saloon. The saloon does not charge the amount of chemial used on the hair, but only the quality of the chemial. Pretty weird huh. Wouldn't a person with very long hair get more advantage? haha
